Great Dane offers paid internships throughout the year, aligned with the needs of our teams. Each internship requires a commitment of 20–40 hours per week for approximately 10 weeks, depending on the role. We offer competitive hourly pay and provide housing assistance for interns who require relocation support.
Our primary internship focus is engineering, with opportunities across manufacturing and industrial engineering that provide hands-on experience in process improvement, production operations, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. Additional opportunities are available in human resources, finance, sales, and business operations. Interns gain practical experience, work on meaningful projects, and contribute to real business outcomes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
We are seeking motivated, conscientious, and dedicated individuals with strong organizational skills and attention to detail who are eager to learn about our industry and contribute to a high-energy, innovative team.
Industrial Engineer Intern
The Industrial Engineer Intern supports initiatives focused on improving production efficiency, labor utilization, workflow optimization, and operational performance within manufacturing operations. This role provides hands-on experience applying industrial engineering and lean manufacturing principles in a commercial vehicle production environment. The intern will work closely with engineering and operations teams to analyze processes, collect data, and support continuous improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
Major(s): Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Manufacturing Engineer Intern
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports manufacturing engineering activities focused on improving safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency within plant operations. This role provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives in a commercial vehicle production environment. The intern will work closely with manufacturing engineers, operations teams, and cross-functional partners to support projects related to process improvement, equipment implementation, and operational performance.
Major(s): Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Production Engineer Intern
The Product Engineer Intern supports engineering activities related to product design, configuration, and documentation for trailer and truck body systems. This role provides exposure to translating customer specifications into manufacturable designs, generating engineering drawings, and collaborating with manufacturing and operations teams. The intern will gain hands-on experience working within a commercial vehicle manufacturing environment while contributing to meaningful engineering projects.
Major(s): Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
Industrial Design Intern
The Industrial Design intern is responsible for the design and development of products that optimize functionality, aesthetics, ergonomics, and user experience while ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency. This role collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and customers to create innovative solutions that enhance product performance and customer value across trailer and truck body platforms. The Industrial Design intern integrates industrial design principles with engineering requirements to develop concepts from ideation through production implementation.
Major(s): Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
Human Resources Intern
The Human Resources Intern will support the Corporate Human Resources team in delivering key people initiatives that support Great Dane’s enterprise workforce and business operations. This internship provides exposure to core human resources functions including HR operations, workforce analytics, employee engagement, organizational development, and enterprise HR programs. The intern will partner with HR professionals on projects that improve HR processes, support business leaders, and strengthen the employee experience across the organization. This role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced corporate and manufacturing environment.

MBA Intern
The MBA Intern supports strategic business initiatives that impact operational performance, growth, efficiency, and organizational effectiveness across the company. This role provides exposure to executive-level decision making and cross-functional leadership within a manufacturing and operations environment. The intern will work closely with senior leadership to support enterprise initiatives aligned with company strategy and will work on high-priority projects involving business analysis, operational improvement, financial evaluation, or organizational strategy while collaborating with leaders across engineering, operations, supply chain, finance, and human resources. Interns will present project outcomes and recommendations to senior leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
Currently enrolled in an MBA program (full-time or part-time)
