Glasvan Great Dane: Better Equipment and Better Service Customers Can Count On
Glasvan and Great Dane’s partnership has been going strong since 1990, and since then, they’ve grown to become one of the highest-volume Great Dane dealerships in North America.
We spent some time with George Cobham, Jr., Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Glasvan Great Dane, to talk about what has made his dealership so successful.
Take a quick look at what sets the Glasvan team apart, or keep reading to learn how they’ve been successful for more than four decades. And if you’re at Truck World April 16-18, come by booth 2452. Glasvan representatives and members of our team would love to connect with you in person.
Great Dane: “Glasvan’s reputation is built on your philosophy: Better Equipment. Better Service. Tell us what this means for your customers.”
George Cobham, Jr. “It’s more than a slogan for us—it’s how we work, every single day. Our success didn’t happen by chance. We’ve built it as a team, with locations across southern Ontario, 27 service bays, and 30,000 square feet of parts warehousing, all working together to make sure our customers get what they need when they need it.”
Great Dane: “We’ve enjoyed watching your team grow throughout our long partnership together.”
George Cobham, Jr.: “We share the same goals. It’s never been just about selling trailers and truck bodies—it’s about solving problems for our customers.
Great Dane offers a high quality, proven design. It’d be easy for Great Dane to just ride that reputation—but you don’t. And we love that. Great Dane is constantly innovating, always asking how you can make your products better. We’ve seen how that drive to evolve pays off in big ways, like fewer roadside inspection issues, better fuel efficiency, improved asset utilization, and even a higher resale value when it’s time to retire a trailer.”
Great Dane: “We appreciate that, George, and as you know, we’re equally committed to providing the best trailers and truck bodies on the road. Tell us more about how your team makes a difference for your customers with each interaction.”
George Cobham, Jr.: “Our team doesn’t just sell trailers and truck bodies. They listen. They spend time with their customers, learning about their operations, their pain points, and their goals.
We don’t offer a one-size-fits-all solution. With the flexibility that Great Dane offers in terms of specs and configurations, we can zero in on what will work best for each customer. That’s what people are looking for. Not just a product, but a partner.”
Great Dane: “How do parts availability factor in for your customers?”
George Cobham, Jr.: “Our parts team is another big part of why our customers rely on us. People don’t normally buy a part for a rainy day. Our team knows how to get the part our customer needs quickly. If a part is not in stock, they understand that reducing the time to get it isarguably the most important thing these days. We know we have to be fast and accurate, and our customers appreciate efficiency. This is a parts team at the top of their game.”
Cobham says another advantage that benefits Glasvan customers is geography. With Great Dane manufacturing plants in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, they can get a brand-new trailer or truck body from the factory to their Toronto lot in just a couple of days. That speed matters.
George Cobham, Jr.: “We’re proud to be a Great Dane dealer. There have been many people across Great Dane who have been instrumental in our efforts to put Great Dane trailers and truck bodies down the road. Together, we solve specific challenges a customer is facing, thanks to excellent relationships and collaboration with teams in Great Dane product development, sales, and engineering.”
It’s clear to see that at Glasvan Great Dane, it’s customer relationships and a team approach that allows the dealership to do what they do best: keep their customers rolling with better equipment and better service.
