To Suppliers of Great Dane:

Great Dane is declared as a critical manufacturer by the Department of Homeland Security as part of Transportation Equipment Manufacturing. As a supplier to Great Dane, you are considered critical as well and must continue to supply your products to Great Dane.

Given the current environment, the trucking industry plays a vital role to deliver life sustaining and essential goods across the nation. Each and every product that is needed during this pandemic is carried by trailers whether it is a raw material or an end product.

Great Dane manufactures trailers and truck bodies, which is crucial to the economic prosperity and continuity of the United States. Our trailers and truck bodies are essential for delivering life-sustaining goods transport operations. A disruption of certain elements of our manufacturing supply chain could disrupt essential functions at the national level and across multiple critical infrastructure sectors.

Transportation equipment manufacturing is labelled part of the nation’s Critical Manufacturing Sector by the Department of Homeland Security. For more information, please contact the Sector-Specific Agency at The Department of Homeland Security states products made by these manufacturing industries are essential to many other critical infrastructure sectors. The Critical Manufacturing Sector focuses on the identification, assessment, prioritization, and protection of nationally significant manufacturing industries within the sector that may be susceptible to manmade and natural disasters.

Great Dane is a major part of the supply chain to our customers who are working to meet the demands of the marketplace with restocking and replenishing products across the country without interruption.

In accordance with the city-wide shutdown of nonessential businesses, we are participating in the temporary closure of our branch facility located at 4800 Pennypack Street in Philadelphia, beginning at 5:00 p.m. on March 16 through at least March 27, though a precise end date has not yet been determined.

Employees will immediately begin following remote work protocols.

We encourage our employees and partners everywhere to take the extra precautions necessary to protect their health and that of others. Please refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and your local health authorities for updates and answers to questions.

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as available. The Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and his Health Secretary Rachel Levine have also urged residents in areas under shutdown to avoid any nonessential travel, stay away from large gatherings, and keep a six-foot distance between themselves and others.

As we monitor and learn more about the spread of Coronavirus in our communities, we want to be transparent about what we’re doing as a company to protect our customers and employees. Our top priority remains the health and safety of our employees, and we also have a responsibility to support our communities, those who are vulnerable, and the healthcare providers who are on the front lines of this pandemic.

To ensure that the health and safety of our employees and partners are not compromised, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and respond to this rapidly-evolving situation as needed. At this time, we are suspending all non-critical business travel and events.

Due to our distributed manufacturing network and the minimal reliance on an imported supply chain, Great Dane’s manufacturing remains fully functional. We are committed to providing the exceptional level of support our customers expect from Great Dane and in the midst of this coronavirus outbreak it's important that we give you as much flexibility as possible when planning your business needs.
